Some schools in Cape Town have waiting lists going back many years. So, if you have your decided on a particular school, apply in good time. According to Education Update, “schools Cape Town, Western Cape Education and the administration have improved how they manage enrolment and our campaigns have helped to raise this awareness of the need to enrol children early.”
A question often asked. What is the admission age for Grade 1? Compulsory school-going age (Grade 1) is 7 years in the year that the child is in Grade 1.
Should a parent wish to enrol a child in Grade 1 when the child is 5 years old and turning 6 by 30 June of the Grade 1 year, they will have to apply to the district director, who will arrange for the child assessment for school readiness.
