A question often asked. What is the admission age for Grade 1? Compulsory school-going age (Grade 1) is 7 years in the year that the child is in Grade 1.
Should a parent wish to enrol a child in Grade 1 when the child is 5 years old and turning 6 by 30 June of the Grade 1 year, they will have to apply to the district director, who will arrange for the child assessment for school readiness.
